Kisan College, Sohsarai achieved the status The college was founded in the year 1957 A long road had been traversed when of a constituent unit of Magadh University. It was then affiliated to Bihar the college was attached to Magadh and 1957 University. Later on, it was affiliated to Patna University for some time. Thereafter University in 1962 and Since then the College functioned under Magadh University. The college on its merit and virtue became a constituent unit is 1975.

Kisan College with its nomenclature occupies a distinct Feature. Most of the colleges of modern times have been named after persons but Kisan College has been named after Kisan or Farmers. This college refers to the fact that it was founded by Kisans of the locality under a capable leadership of staunch follower of Gandhanian thought Late Ramji Prasad on 31″ May 1957. The families of affluent farmers and small farmers or the locality called Sohsarai was very much impressed by the vision and motive of the founder.

Secretary Late Ramji Prasad, hence extended their full support to the formation of the college. The College represents the institutions of a toiling community. Also it can be said that the college is an embodiment of Indian culture as India lives in the villages.

Presently the College is ideally located on rural-urban fringe of the district headquarters of District Nalanda. i.e. Biharsharif. River Panchane flows from the eastern flank of the college which further makes the college campus suitable for a conducive academic atmosphere. Kisan college is exceptional as peace, amity and cohesion have always prevailed here. The College has always gained excellence in the field of academics along with cultural activities, co-curricular activities, games & sports, NCC & NSS.
